Chef training programme

The course

We have developed a six-week chef training programme for young people wanting to learn more about hospitality, working in kitchens and West African cuisine. The course takes participants through basic cooking principles, safe food handling and key West African techniques.

Open to 18-30 year olds, free of charge! The course has an online theory session each Monday evening, and a practical session on Tuesday evenings at our restaurant.

Outcomes

Our students leave the course with well-rounded training and a Level 2 certificate in Food Hygiene and Safety. We also regularly offer opportunities for the students to work with us in the restaurant and at events, to further develop their skills.

We are building up a great network of students and also organise regular meet-up events.

UPcoming Dates

Our next course will run in September/October 2026. Please email us at littlebaobabfamily@gmail.com to apply or for more information.

Our Charity Partner

We donate a percentage of all sales at our restaurant to our charity partner Daaru Salam Koki (founded in 1957), to support sustainable development in Sourouyel, Senegal.

Daaru Salam Koki supports disadvantaged children with education, food security and health support. We provide both financial support and regularly send shipments of clothing donations.

Email us at littlebaobabfamily@gmail.com if you would like to donate any clothes or other items – you can also donate funds directly through the link below.
